The Rite of Baptism includes these words: “The Christian community welcomes you with great joy.”

God is not only the Creator of the vast cosmos but also lovingly cares for it. He sends his Son to restore humanity to our rightful place in his creation-to be in communion with him in every sphere of human activity.

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God is Good News! Through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, he broke the bonds of sin and death. He opened the portals of life eternal. He bids us to believe in him and to enter into a whole new way of living under his rule and reign.

Entrance into Christ’s Kingdom is by “water and the Spirit” (Jn3:5) It is a new birth. Baptism is the ritual of initiation into Christ’s community. In baptism a person is “immersed“ in the death of Christ and rises to new life in Christ. Being born anew into God’s loving family, we journey together with Christ as channels of grace to every nook and cranny of Good’s great creation.

People of all ages can be baptized into the Catholic Faith…from infant to mature adult. The Catholic Faith also recognizes all other Christian baptisms as valid. For those wishing to join the Catholic Faith community from other Christian faiths and who have been baptized in other Churches, this sacrament of initiation need not be repeated. For further information, please see the information links below.
Baptism Prep Classes

Baptism preparation class is required for all first time parents who are Catholic and the godparents to be. Classes are taught on an individual basis. Please contact the Pastoral Associate to set up a time that works for all of you. If either the parents or the godparents have already taken a course, then contact the parish you took the course from and have them send a letter to St Thomas More stating your completion of the course. If the parents are not Catholic, please click on the link: (LINK).

Infant/Child Baptism Information

Our new young members receive the sacrament of baptism during one of our weekend masses as a sign of being welcomed and initiated into the Catholic Church and our parish community. You may choose from either Saturday evening at 5pm or Sunday morning at 8:00am or 10:00am. A parent and Godparent prep class is also required prior to receiving the sacrament. Please contact the Pastoral Associate to inquire about your child being baptized at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Do you wish to learn more about what we believe and how we live Christ’s Good News of redemption and loving grace? Have you considered becoming a full member of our community and of the Catholic Church? RCIA is a process that helps a person explore this. Adults enter into this program if they are interested in learning about the Catholic faith and traditions, interested in learning more about what being Catholic means, and to prayerfully reflect with others about going through the Rites of Christian Initiation. This year long journey of meeting weekly begins in October and ends on Easter Vigil with the receiving of the Sacraments of Initiation. To learn more about this journey click here RCIA.
