Sacraments

GO THEREFORE AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL THE NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

MATTHEW 28:19

The Seven Sacraments

The Catholic Faith believes that we, as creations of God’s love, are able to taste the divine life of our Creator in this world.  There is a sacramentality to this reality that allows us to connect in a real and intangible way to the divine Father who desires to gift us with His love through the world which He created.  Our faith presents seven special ways that God communicates and shares this Love to us through our lives and worshipping communities.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines the sacraments as “efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is ‘dispensed’ to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions.” We celebrate these seven special effective signs of grace in seven key ritual celebrations, each of which touches on and celebrates a key moment of grace in our journey through this life (birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, death).

St. Thomas More Catholic Church invites and welcomes those seeking to celebrate and immerse themselves in these special rituals of God’s loving grace, who wish to deepen their faith and connection to God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit of wisdom and life who shares in their love.  Some of these celebrations occur weekly, while others are reserved for special times in a person’s faith journey through life.
